Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #125

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I hope you've been having a great week!  I apologize for being totally MIA for the last week (and a bit).  Jacob got really sick and then had some severe side effects from his antibiotic (in combination with some pretty serious dehydration).  Anyhow, he is back to normal after several uncertain days!  He was back to his super silly self today and nearly drove me insane!!!!

I had a few minutes in my craft room on Sunday to create a card for this week's fun new Freshly Made Sketches challenge!  I really love the fabulous (and versatile) sketch that our very creative, layer queen, Narelle Farrugia has come up with for us!

So, I've gotten over my neutrals phase and have moved back to grey and yellow!  I can't help it...I just love the look!

The sentiment is stamped using silver embossing powder but it's very hard to tell from the photo.  I was having some lighting issues while trying to get this picture!!!!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Whisper White, Basic Grey, Daffodil Delight
DSP: Brights DSP Paper Stack (Daffodil Delight)
Stamps: Birthday Bash Sentiments (PTI)
Ink: Versamark
Other: Beautiful Wings Embosslit, Basic Rhinestones, Silver Embossing Powder, Dimensionals

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Please head on over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and check out the beautiful card the design team has created for you!

Have a fabulous day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #124

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  How is it Wednesday already?!  I guess with having Monday off for Family Day here in Ontario it makes the week go by that much faster!  It's fabulous!  I must say I like long weekends.  I don't like long weekends with a sick child isn't fun.  Jacob wasn't doing very well at bed time last night so we will have to see how he is in the morning and if we will be making another trip to the Emergency Room.

We have a fun new sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches!  The very talented Karren Johnson brings us this beauty this week!  I just love it!
So you all know how I feel about butterflies and bling!  I also love bright fun colours!  I wanted to create a card that made me feel happy and more like spring!  We got another 5+ cm of snow last night and I think I am so done and over snow!!!

I love the Beautiful Wings Embosslit! I love mine so much that it's actually come apart and my husband has nicely glued it back together for me!!!!  At least it's not sitting around collecting dust!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic Black, Whisper White, Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Rich Razzleberry
Stamps: Create a Cupcake
Ink: Melon Mambo
Other: Basic Rhinestones, Beautiful Wings Embosslit, Dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you have a fabulous day!

CAS(E) This Sketch Dots

Hello!
Happy Tuesday!  Another day time post!  Very unusual here!  I have a sick little boy at home with me today.  Makes me sad.  Jacob was diagnosed with strep throat Monday morning.  He is a tough cookie so to see him completely wiped out is so sad.  He still hasn't perked up.  We are just waiting for these antibiotics to kick in.  Hopefully he'll be back to his energetic self tomorrow!

I had a few minutes to play in the craft room on the weekend - but only a few.  I had to play along with this week's CAS(E) This Sketch challenge!!  I loved the new sketch!  I really wish I had a snowman I could have used but I had to improvise!

I don't think you can ever have too many birthday cards on hand!  I had seen Mary Fish feature a card last week using the Rock 'n Roll technique which I haven't used in ages!  I decided I would use PTI's Dot Spot stamp set for this card and thought the Rock 'n Roll technique would be perfect!  I opted for a little Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie ink and away I went!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Whisper White
Stamps: Birthday Bash Sentiments, Dot Spot
Ink: Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black
Other: Dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by!  I'll be back tomorrow morning with this week's Freshly Made Sketches post!  Super fun sketch this week so you won't want to miss it!!!

Have a great day!

Retro Sympathy

Hello again!!!
Second post for the day!  Same sketch though so don't get too excited!  I needed another sympathy card and since I'm going through my neutrals phase (and seem completely stuck in it) I created this card.

I used the sketch at Retro Sketches again to create the card.  I really did love this sketch!  It was super fun to work with!

I wanted to keep my card simple.  Sadly it sometimes take me longer to create a simple looking card than it does a complicated one.  You would think this took 5 minutes...we won't discuss how long it really took and how many different colour combinations I used!!!  Obviously I haven't learned the art of churning out cards!!!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Sahara Sand
Stamps: Papillon Potpourri, a PTI one who's name escapes me!
Ink: Sahara Sand
Other: Scalloped Circle Punch, Elegant Butterfly Punch, Basic Pearls, Dimensionals

Thanks again for checking this post out!  One more using this sketch....hopefully something new coming tomorrow or Saturday!!!

Have a great day!

Retro (Fresh) Sketches!

Hello!
How is the week going?  We had a busy day here!  I must say that I am a little tired!  I like to treat my boys teachers to chocolate covered strawberries for Valentine's Day.   I like to make them myself and really enjoy doing it so that was what I was doing this morning!  I took them into the teachers today since I don't plan on being in at the school tomorrow!

I had made some cards for the retro sketches challenge a while ago and realized I hadn't posted them!  I love the new sketch at retro sketches and actually made 3 cards with it!!!  I was on a roll!!!

I do love the new Retro Fresh DSP!  I love the colours and it fits in perfectly with my neutral phase!!!  The Just Sayin' stamp set is also one of my favourites and I wish I could use it on every card!  I threw some random pearls on the card just to add a little something.  I also discovered I'm not very good at random!    The little arrow is from the Label Card Thinlits Die!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Costal Cabana, Crushed Curry
DSP: Retro Fresh
Stamps: Just Sayin'
Ink: Versamark
Other: Word Bubbles Framelits, Basic Pearls, Label Card Thinlits, White Embossing Powder, Dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by!  I'll be doing another couple of posts with this sketch!!  Hope you don't get bored!!!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #123

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  Can you believe we're halfway through the week already!  Today Jacob and I are heading on a class trip with Caleb's class.  They are going to the local arena to do some skating!  The kids are learning about the Olympics and learning about some of the sports in gym class so they are going to do some skating themselves!  I get to go and tie skates!  We shall see how my hands feel tomorrow night!!!

We have a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!  I am so fortunate to be this week's hostess!  It's always exciting to come up with a sketch and this week was no exception!  I'm sure you all know how I feel about circles and so I decided to create a sketch that was loaded with circles!  No better way to get over a fear than to jump right in with both feet!

This card isn't particularly for anyone (yet!) but I like to have several birthday cards on hand just in case!!!   I love the new Petite Petals stamp set and coordinating punch in the Occasions Catalogue!  It's perfect to add some little details to a card!

I'm going through a neutrals phase (you'll see a few upcoming cards that are totally neutral colours!) right now.  You'll have to bear with me through this!!!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla
Stamps: Petite Petals, Create a Cupcake (Sentiment)
Ink: Crumb Cake
Other: Very Vanilla Taffeta Ribbon, Basic Pearls

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Please head on over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and check out the amazing cards the design team has come up with!  I am so fortunate to be able to create with such a great group of ladies!

Have a wonderful day!

CAS(E) This Sketch Sympathy

Hello!
I don't usually get to posting during the day!  I like being home when the kids are at school!  I snuck a few minutes in this morning and headed down to the craft room!  I wanted to get a few cards finished up and get ahead for next week!

Unfortunately, I needed a sympathy card this week (actually, I need two) and I wanted to get those done so they can get into the mail.  The uncle of a friend of mine recently passed away and I want to send my friend and her aunt a card to let them know I'm praying for them.

I've been feeling rather uncreative lately.  I think sometimes creativity goes in waves!  I started out with the sketch over at CAS(E) this sketch and went from there.  I knew I wanted this card to be mostly vanilla.  I love the look of vanilla on vanilla.  It just seems so clean!  I put some tiny little pearls in the centre of the flowers but unfortunately they don't show up in the picture too well.  It's a grey day here today so there isn't much light shining in the patio door!

I turned to my trusted Field Flowers, some Sahara Sand and Early Espresso Ink and voila!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Very Vanilla
Stamps: Field Flowers (SU), One from PTI that I can't remember the name of!
Ink: Sahara Sand, Early Espresso
Other: Basic Pearls, Dimensionals

Thanks so much for stopping by!
I will be back again (later tonight) with tomorrow's Freshly Made Sketches post!

Have a fabulous Tuesday!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #122

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  They are calling for a pile of snow here so we shall see what really happens!  I think we have enough snow and spring can come any time!!!  I am wondering if school will be cancelled today...probably not, this is Canada!

We have a brand new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches this week!  The fabulously talented Cindy Hall has come up with a great sketch for us!
There was a birthday at our house earlier in the week!  My darling husband celebrated his birthday on Monday!  He's a hard guy to make cards for - though he always loves and appreciates whatever I make!  I used this week's sketch to create his birthday card!   I tried to make it as manly as I could!  He probably would have preferred it if it had an airplane on it!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic Black, Whisper White, Silver
DSP: Festival of Prints DSP Pack (Retired)
Stamps: Perfect Pennants
Ink: Versamark
Other: Candy Dots, Banners Framelits, Dimensionals, White Embossing Powder

Thanks for stopping by!  Please head on over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and check out the beautiful cards our design team has created!  We can't wait to see what you create!

Have a fabulous day!

CAS(E) This Sketch Birthday

Hello!
Hope you had a great weekend!   We had a nice, relaxing weekend!  The boys went and played a little hockey with their dad today and came home wiped out!  Always a good sign!  I was able to spend a few minutes in the craft room and got a few cards done!  I am hoping to get in there again tomorrow for a few more minutes!

Of course we all know I love playing along with the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge!  I loved this week's sketch!  It took me out of my comfort zone for sure!

I had seen a friend use the wooden elements on a card recently and totally forgot that I even had them.  I wanted to put them to good use!  I decided having some chevrons pointing towards the sentiment might be fun!

I like the simplicity of doing "Clean and Simple" cards but to be honest, sometimes they take longer than complex cards!!!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Coastal Cabana, Very Vanilla
DSP: Retro Fresh
Stamps: Four You
Ink: Basic Black
Other: Wooden Elements, Basic Rhinestones

Thanks for stopping by!
I hope you have a fabulous day!

Jen!
