CAS(E) this Sketch Mother's Day

Hello!
I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!  We had a beautiful day here today.  My husband and Caleb went flying today and had a blast.  Caleb did awesome flying his angry birds plane!  I do wish I could have been there to see that!  Jacob and I stayed home and he was able to have a much needed nap this afternoon!

I really do love the CAS(E) this Sketch challenge!  I need to get a few Mother's Day cards made up so I  wanted to use this sketch as a starting point!  I decided to substitute the tags for butterflies!  I mean, most of you know how I feel about butterflies!

I used some DSP for the bottom two butterflies but ran the Melon Mambo butterfly through the Big Shot using the woodgrain embossing folder.  I wanted to keep this card super clean and really simple!  Of course I had to throw in some bling!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic Black, Whisper White, Melon Mambo
DSP: Print Poetry, Polka Dot Parade
Stamps: Well Scripted
Ink: Basic Black
Other: Elegant Butterfly Punch, Bitty Butterfly Punch, Basic Rhinestones, Dimensionals, Woodgrain Embossing Folder

Thanks for stopping by!
I hope you have a great weekend!

Freshly Made Sketches #83

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I feel like this has been a long week!  Today is a very special day at Freshly Made Sketches!  Today we are all celebrating Vicki Burdick's Birthday!  If you don't know Vicki she is one talented card maker!  She designs with the fabulous Lesley Croghan on the Merry Monday Team!  If you still aren't sure head on over to her blog, It's a Stamp Thing! You will not be disappointed!  We all hope Vicki has a wonderful birthday!

Today's sketch is brought to us courtesy of the lovely and talented Allisa Chilton!  I must say I found the sketch a little challenging!  I couldn't find a "long" stamp or image I wanted to use so I decided to get out my Aviary stamp set!  Who doesn't love some birdcages?!

I really do love the new Epic Day DSP!  The colours are just so fun and fabulous!  I just had to use it!  Of course there probably aren't any Calypso Coral owls or Pool Party birds but there are on this card!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic Black, Very Vanilla
DSP: Epic Day
Stamps: Aviary, Bloomin' Marvelous
Ink: Calypso Coral, Pool Party, Basic Black
Other: Basic Rhinestones, Pool Party Ribbon, Dimensionals

I hope you have a few minutes to head on over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog to check out the beautiful birthday cards the Design Team has created!

CAS(E) This Sketch Birthday!

Hello!
I've been neglecting this blog lately haven't I?!  I'm so sorry!  I am going to try and get a few extra cards made this week if I can!  There has been a request made by my 6 year old to have a craft day on Friday during his PA day!  Should be good times!

I saw this week's sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch and knew I had to create a card!  I love their clean and simple sketches!  I fully believe that sometimes less is more!

I knew I wanted a butterfly on my card and I using Papillon Potpourri to create the perfect butterfly in a myriad of different colours/textures and I couldn't get one to work.  Sigh....Needless to say I found a scrap of textured Melon Mambo in my scrap bin and decided it would make a fabulous butterfly - with some bling of course!  I used black embossing powder on the flower to make sure that it was really black!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Whisper White, Melon Mambo
Stamps: Betsy's Blossoms
Ink: Melon Mambo, Versamark
Other: Basic Rhinestones, Elegant Butterfly Punch

Thanks for stopping by!
Have a fabulous day!!!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #82

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  Today was a crazy/different day at the Brum house.  Caleb came home from school not feeling so hot but seemed to recover quickly once home - which makes me happy!

Wednesday brings a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches!  I am this week's hostess and very excited about that!  I hope you like the sketch I have for you!
I needed to make a card for a friend of mine who's about to become the aunt to twin baby girls!  I decided that cute little dresses would be perfect for this card.  The two step owl punch is perfect for making dresses!  I couldn't help to add some rosettes and pearls!  I mean little girls love rosettes and pearls don't they?!  I actually have no idea since our house is full of boys and trucks and trains and airplanes!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Rose Red, Early Espresso
DSP: Rose Red DSP
Stamps: Cuddles and Kisses, Baby Bundle (hangers for dress)
Ink: Early Espresso
Other: Basic Pearls, Two-Step Owl Punch, Labels Framelits Dies, Sanding Block, Rosettes, Dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by!  Head on over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog to see what the rest of the fabulous Clean Team has created for you!

Have a great day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #81

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!!!  I hope everyone has had a great week!  I am thankful it's Wednesday but we have a Winter Storm Watch in effect here in Southern Ontario.  I mean seriously...snow and ice?  Really?  I am so done with winter.  As pretty as snow is in November and December...it has lost it's lustre here and I'm ready to move on!!

Wednesday brings us another fabulous new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches!  Today's sketch is brought to us by the incredibly talented Cindy Hall!  Cindy's cards always make me smile!  She is so creative!
I was having trouble figuring out what I would use for the oval and while going through my "stuff" I remembered I had my daisy #2 die and thought that would make a great substitute for an oval!  I need a few generic cards so I thought the Hello sentiment from Lacy and Lovely would be perfect for this card!

Supplies:
Cardstock: So Saffron, Very Vanilla
DSP: Tea for Two
Stamps: Lacy and Lovely
Ink: Basic Black
Other: Daisies #2 Die, Basic Pearls, Linen Thread, Antique Brads, Dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by!  Head on over to the FMS blog to check out what the designers have created for you!
Have a fabulous day!

CAS(E) these Flip Flops!

Hello!
Happy Tuesday! I don't usually write posts in the middle of the day but I wanted to get this card finished and uploaded before the CAS(E) this Sketch! deadline!

I had a wonderful walk this morning with my friend Denyse and afterwards I had a few minutes to get this card finished before heading into the school to help the Kindergarten kids play on some big Jungle Gym!  Let's just hope they don't expect me to climb up to the top to rescue someone!!!

I liked this week's sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch! and wanted to give it a try!  I have had this flip flop stamp set from PTI for ages and just haven't gotten it out (I don't know why?!)  I love it.  The weather is slowly getting warmer here and I can't wait to get my flip flops out!!!

I wanted to keep this card really clean and simple.  I decided to use the polka dot single stamp from SU!  I used a really large post it note to mask the stamp and make the image smaller.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic Black, Whisper White, Silver Glimmer
Stamps: Flipping Out (PTI), Polka Dots (SU)
Ink: Melon Mambo, Basic Black
Other: Flipping Out Dies, Basic Rhinestones, Two-Step Owl Punch (heart), Dimensionals.

Thanks for stopping by!!!  Don't forget to stop by tomorrow for this week's Freshly Made Sketches Challenge card!

Have a wonderful day!

Get well!

Hello
Hope you had a great day!  I am feeling a little tired tonight!  I am glad we are nearing the end of the week!  Jacob and I had a great day at home today.  He is slowly getting better at his reading so we were working on that this morning.  What a privilege to be able to teach a child to read....something we probably take advantage of far to often!

Today's card is for my aunt.  She has been really sick for a while now and I think a card might cheer her up.  I decided to use the Fab Friday sketch as a starting point.  I combined that with the Dynamic Duos Colour challenge this week.   This week's colours are Primrose Petals and then a colour of your choice...I picked Summer Starfruit.

I realize now looking at this that my flag is a little too wide.  I guess it's a little too late to change that now!  I love the Tea for Two stamp set from Papertrey Ink.  Who doesn't love a good tea pot stamp!  I used the coordinating die as well!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic Black, Very Vanilla, Primrose Petals
DSP: Tea for Two (Papertrey Ink)
Stamps: Tea for Two
Ink: Basic Black
Other: Honeycomb Embossing Folder,  Tea for Two Die (Papertrey Ink), Basic Pearls, Sanding Block, Distressing Tool, Dimesionals

Thanks for stopping by!
Have a great day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #80

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  Can you believe it's Wednesday already?  That week sure goes quickly when everyone is off on a Monday!  I was able to enjoy a morning alone today!  I got some running around done which was perfect!  It's so much easier to do errands when you're not getting a little person in and out of a car seat!

We had a brand new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches!  Linda C is our hostess this week.  She makes such amazing cards!  You definitely need to give her blog a glance!  I love Linda's sketch this week.  I think it's super versatile!
So I decided to try out the chalkboard technique on the card.  I did a little research and lots of people use facecloths to apply their white craft ink but I didn't think that was a great option so tried a J-Cloth and it worked just fine and dandy!  Start rubbing the white craft ink in circles and it slowly starts to blend in together and look chalk board like!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic Black, Whisper White
Stamps: Vintage Verses
Ink: Versamark, Whisper White (Craft)
Other: Labels Collection Framelits, Black Polka Dot Ribbon, White Embossing Powder, Dimensionals

Caleb competed in the Sparks Grand Prix last night at Awana (a kids program at our church).  He did great and all the kids had such a fun time!  He was so proud of his car!!

Hope you have a minute to stop over at the Freshly Made Sketches blog and check out the beautiful cards the Design Team has created for you!

Thanks!
Have a great day!

Create with Connie and Mary Challenge Birthday Card!

Hello!
I hope everyone enjoyed a great Easter!  We had a wonderful weekend together and thought it was quiet it was nice and relaxed!  Caleb flew his first airplane on the weekend!  I was so excited and nervous and then proud all at the same time!  He had some help from Daddy but it was still done a lot on his own!  Can you believe that?!  Pictures and a link to the video are below!  I'm one proud mama!!!

Today's card is a birthday card for my Mama!  Her birthday is on Monday but I had to get it into the mail today so she'd get it on time.  I saw the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge sketch and knew that I could use it to make the perfect card for my mom!  My mom makes the most awesome cards...it's hard to make something for her because her's are always so thoughtful and personal!  My mom LOVES strawberries!

I wanted to do a punch art strawberry but when doing research discovered that I didn't have all of the required punches so I had to improvise and since I am doing the CCMC challenge I needed to keep it SUO!  The strawberry body is a full heart punch embossed with the perfect polka dot embossing folder.  The leaves are one of the flowers from the Secret Garden Framelits.   The stem is from the 2-step bird punch and the flowers are from the Boho Blossoms Punch!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Whisper White, Real Red, Gumball Green
Stamps: Itty Bitty Banners
Ink: Real Red
Other: 2 3/8: Scalloped Circle Punch, 1 3/4" Circle Punch, Full Heart Punch, Secret Garden Framelits, 2-Step Bird Punch, Boho Blossoms Punch, Real Red Satin Ribbon, Brights Brads, Basic Rhinestones, Dimensionals.

Here are some pictures of my baby flying!
